Remember on Friday I said that I was going to finally finish the borders on my sampler quilts. Well I did one better than that. The backings have been prewashed and ironed, the bindings have been readied, and the borders are on. Since this is my first experience with sending a quilt away for machine quilting, I called the quilter on Saturday and we spoke about how I wanted them quilted, what type of batting I wanted used, and how I go about paying for this service. She seems very nice, but warned me that she took 52 quilt tops back from my local quilt shop a few weeks ago, so it will probably be three months before I get my finished quilts back. I started this class on July 11, 2006, and after my diagnosis with diabetes and the blurred vision resulting from beginning my meds, I doubted if I'd ever get them finished.A few more months won't matter. So, this is a major victory for me. The top photo is the original sampler quilt that I picked the fabrics for. I really love it and can't wait to see it finished.
What's up for the holiday weekend coming up? I hope to get more done on Izzy's quilt, and maybe to start DD Mary's Christmas quilt. Let's see what I get accomplished. Have a great week!
